Charting the Economic Future of Chinatown
We would like to thank everyone who attended the Chinatown Economic Forum on April 29, 2008 at Gold Mountain Restaurant. Over 300 participants heard trends, challenges, and successful strategies utilized by San Francisco and other Chinatowns. Participants provided feedback to the strategies that will help City agencies work with the community as part of public-private collaboration to revitalize Chinatown.

Chinatown residents, merchants and entrepreneurs, community leaders, and anyone with love for this historically rich district are invited to convene on April 29, at Gold Mountain Restaurant, to chart the economic future of this vibrant neighborhood.
Participants will hear trends, challenges, and successful strategies utilized by San Francisco and other Chinatowns. Attendees will develop a Chinatown Economic Action Plan including revitalization projects (see partial list below) to transform Chinatown into a place where visitors and locals, young and old, will enjoy. Participants will help City staff identify programmatic strategies to realize this vision.
Your participation will help Chinatown showcase its full potential while retaining the character and uniqueness that make it so special.
Proposed Action Strategies may include
Arts and Culture Projects to highlight Chinatown’s history and culture Public Safety and Cleanliness Projects Promotion to establish Chinatown as a "must see" destination for visitors Physical Improvements including storefront and streetscape projects to improve pedestrian safety, and the appearance of the neighborhood Business Support to strengthen existing neighborhood businesses
