San Francisco, CA—The Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD), today announced the commissioning of the development of the City’s first Economic Resiliency Plan. The plan will provide a framework and recommendations for the City on how to prepare for a future economic downturn. While San Francisco continues to see strength in the economy, the Mayor tasked the Office of Economic and Workforce Development to plan ahead and explore ideas on how to keep the City’s economic engine and workforce steady during challenging economic times.

San Francisco, CA— Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced that the City will invest $6 million in programs over the next two years to strengthen the nonprofit sector in San Francisco. This investment includes an unprecedented $4.25 million to create a Nonprofit Space Investment Fund for the acquisition of permanent affordable space, $1.45 million to launch a Nonprofit Space Stabilization Program to address nonprofit sustainability, and $295,000 to support planning and evaluation for long-term partnerships such as program expansions or shared administrative staff.

San Francisco, CA— Mayor Edwin M. Lee today launched the celebration of San Francisco’s Small Business Week (May 21^st –28^th) where local businesses, entrepreneurs and workers are being recognized and celebrated for their contribution to the local economy and unrivaled neighborhoods. 

Supervisor Katy Tang today announced a resolution asking large San Francisco companies to join the SF Biz Connect program and take the pledge to shift an additional 5% of their spending to small and local businesses. The resolution is expected to pass at the Board of Supervisors tomorrow.

San Francisco, CA—Mayor Edwin M. Lee today announced more than $2.5 million in new funding in his proposed Fiscal Years 2016-17 and 2017-18 budget to create, develop and implement the San Francisco Legacy Business Program, which was approved by voters last November. The goals of the San Francisco Legacy Business Program are to stabilize, strengthen and sustain longtime San Francisco small businesses, especially those which have played a big part in the City’s local economy, diversity and history.

Banner Artwork Unveiling To Help Revitalize Ocean Avenue Corridor

Arts Alive Ingleside project to showcase artwork from 74 artists

San Francisco, CA– The San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development (OEWD) announced the selection of the California Historical Society (CHS) as the chosen entity from the recently-completed Old Mint Request for Proposals (RFP) process.  The RFP was designed to identify a lead partner for the Old Mint Restoration Project – the City’s efforts to renovate the 140-year old structure and restore it as a publicly-accessible cultural facility.  In collaboration with CHS, the City will develop a comprehensive reuse proposal for the City-owned National Historic Landma

San Francisco, CA—The San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development in partnership with the San Francisco Center for Economic Development today announced an inaugural economic development mission to Brazil and Panama. The mission is part of LatinSF, a public private partnership launched in Mexico in 2014 to promote economic development and investment between San Francisco and Latin America. The mission is being led by Mayor Edwin M. Lee from March 12 – 19 and includes visits to Panama City in Panama and São Paolo and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
